This is our vision: on March 22, 2006
your mayor will deliver meals for your program. But your mayor won't
be alone. Your mayor and your senior nutrition program will make history
with hundreds of other mayors across the United States when you deliver
meals to our seniors on March 22, 2006. At this point, we have hundreds
of mayors involved with at least one mayor in each of the 50 states
across the country and this number is growing larger every day.
We hope you have recruited your mayor and are participating in Mayors
For Meals 2006! If you have not yet recruited your mayor please do today!
If you would like to contact your mayor via mail, we have provided a
Mayor Sample Letter for you. All
you have to do is fill in the appropriate information and send it to
your mayor. From there, all your mayor has to do is fax the Mayors
For Meals Commitment form to the MOWAA Office at 703-548-8024.
Because the involvement in Mayors For Meals 2006 is so newsworthy, we
want to generate as much media and press coverage as possible to increase
awareness about senior hunger. After March 22, 2006 we want people to
start talking and we want it to be about feeding our nation’s seniors.
In order to achieve this goal we need your Mayors For Meals Day to be
a major press event at your senior meal program. We need you to contact
your local news stations, radio stations, newspapers, and more to get
the word out about Meals On Wheels and the senior hunger issue.
We also encourage you to buy a Mayors For Meals t- shirt featuring the
Mayors For Meals commemorative logo for your mayor, staff, and volunteers
participating on March 22, 2006. We want all of the mayors and people
involved with Mayors For Meals to wear a Mayors For Meals t-shirt that
day to promote senior wellness.
